AMBEATion is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (MSCA-RISE-2020) initiative. The RISE scheme is part of the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme, with an 80MLN Euro total budget in 2020, and promotes international and cross-sector collaboration through exchanging research and innovation staff and sharing knowledge and ideas from research to market (and vice-versa). Support is provided for the development of partnerships in the form of a joint research and innovation project. This is aimed at knowledge sharing via international as well as intersectoral mobility, based on secondments of research and innovation staff (exchanges) with an in-built return mechanism.
The AMBEAtion project will use Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to greatly enhance designers productivity for Analog and Mixed Signal (AMS) semiconductor devices. The usage of state of the art tools, incorporating AI techniques, combined with the development of ad hoc methodology and “scriptware” will help automate what has been so far a tedious handmade activity: analog placement.
Essential strategy of the project is the Transfer of Knowledge between the partners and the training of a focused team of researchers from Politecnico di Torino, Technical University of Prague and University of Catania, who will be supported by the industrial partners: STMicroelectronics and Synopsys.
The main expected outcomes of the project include:
- Increased designers’ productivity on AMS designs
- Possible reduction in silicon production costs, increasing European industry competitiveness
- New advanced training topics for academies, aligned with high-tech employers needs, forming the basis of a long-lasting technical partnership
